Message From the 2022 Board President, Joanne Storbeck
Hello Central Arizona Association of Continuity Professionals!
Summer is here and we’re planning our fall meetings. Mark your calendar for the Fall DRJ Conference September 11-14, 2022 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. This meeting will be “In Person”!
June 2nd was our meeting with Cheyenne Marling, BC Management. She discussed “BCM Competencies in Demand to Ensure Career Resiliency. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 4, 2022. Debbie Knight and Jana Smith will share Maricopa County’s Community Organizations Active in Disaster (MCCOAD) and discussing the intersection of community preparedness/response and public/private sector involvement. Please refer to our Events Page on our website for registration: www.chapters.acp-international.com/centralarizona. Zoom meetings are slated to start at 8:30 to network until 11:00 AM.
Our membership stands at 35 members across the Phoenix metropolitan area. We are still looking to increase our membership by 25% by December 31, 2022. Please reach out to your peers and promote membership to ACP as a great networking tool along with continuing education units. Our national membership has increased by approximately 133 since the beginning of the year, a great rebound!
The Board of Director of the Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP) selected FirstPoint Management Resources (FPMR) as the new association management provider. The transition concluded May 31, 2022. ACP Board Chairman Michael Gifford is upbeat about the change. This year we are focused on "The Road to Recovery, Viability, and Relevance." As part of the change, surveys were sent out to our active and former members and the outcomes will be used in an upcoming Strategic Planning Workshop, hosted by (FPMR).
The local chapter board sent out a survey at the beginning of the year. The primary reason we belong to ACP is the networking opportunities. We are making plans to have our August meeting in person. Please watch your emails as plans are finalized. The survey results indicated that “Hybrid” meetings made it to the top of the list. The board will look to incorporate the hybrid choice into our meeting setup. Future topics included the changes Covid has made on our BC and DR strategies followed by Cyber among others.
